1. The natural
ruler of each house is derived by placing Aries
on the Ascendant, Taurus on the 2nd-house cusp,
etc. The three earth signs (Taurus, Virgo, and
Capricorn) naturally rule the 2nd, 6th, and 10th
houses, respectively.
2. Transiting Saturn
squares natal Mars from January 9 – June
8, 2004, and natal Neptune from June 25 – July
26, 2004; transiting Jupiter trines Mercury from
September 10–20, 2004, and transits the 2nd
house from October 22, 2004 – November 17,
2005; using 2° orbs.

From The
Mountain Astrologer, August-September
2004 (1)
Q. I have
been plagued repeatedly in my life by losing
all my assets. I go from excelling in my field
to losing everything. I am a university-educated,
hardworking, high-IQ person who has a history
of excellence followed by failures. It is like
that god destined to roll a rock to the mountaintop
only to have it roll back down, then to start
again. My career in sales is in shambles. I’m
about to go bankrupt, and if it were not for
my girlfriend, I would be on the street. Is
this ever going to stop, and is there anything
that I can do to correct this?
—Sisyphys Redux
A. This
exhausting cycle of making it big, losing
it all, and starting again is understandably
taking its toll on you.
Your 6th-house Sun–Jupiter
conjunction trine 10th-house Uranus shows
great capacity for worldly success, which
is further supported by the Sun–Jupiter
trine to 2nd-house planets. These three
houses, naturally ruled by the earth signs,1 represent your high potential for achievement.
There are two factors involved in your
reversals of fortune: First, your natal
Sun–Jupiter opposite
Pluto in the 12th can indicate extremes beyond your
control — in your case, making and then losing
social stature and wealth. Then, there’s your
t-square involving Uranus in the 10th (fluctuating
career), your 4th-house Capricorn Moon (security issues),
and your 2nd-house Mars conjunct the South Node and
Neptune (much capacity for wealth-building but difficulty
holding onto it). The South Node, along with the outer
planets in these two configurations, bestows the fated
feeling on this pattern — thus, the Sisyphean
archetype.

Thankfully,
the Sun’s trine to 10th-house Uranus
allows you to successfully recreate your
career, while the Sun–Jupiter trine
to your 2nd-house planets supports rebuilding
your fortune — albeit at great personal
cost. Clearly, the need to shift this pattern
is paramount.
Demanding as this is, I ask you to step
back from your immediate, rather dire financial
circumstances to view the bigger picture,
since the answer to this dilemma is simple
though challenging. Your 10th-house Uranus
shows humanitarian capacities, which you may have
not yet fully developed in the pursuit of
wealth. What if your career were also your
spiritual path — your
True Calling? Along with rebuilding your sales career,
discover how to apply your talents toward serving
a higher good and (as they say) the money
will follow. You can make it so by harnessing
the force of Uranus and Pluto in this way,
and thus reverse this difficult lifelong
pattern.
This transformation
is a stretch. Your current dilemma is scary,
and at your age (mid 50s), of course, you
must recoup your financial losses as quickly
as possible; so, rebuild your finances first.
There’s
planetary support for this during July, when transiting
Saturn (restriction) completes the square (challenge)
to your 2nd- house planets (money) and in mid September
when transiting Jupiter (opportunity) trines (supports)
10th-house ruler Mercury (career), then entering
you 2nd house in October, offering the possibility
of expanding financial resources.2 But
ultimately, in order to thwart your karmic pattern,
a whole new plan is called for: either a new career
or a significant commitment to a social cause outside
of work. As you move down the path of discovery,
ask yourself: “What is my
true calling?”
You are approaching the Last Quarter phase
in the 30-year progressed lunation cycle3 (August,
2005), which is a directive to re-evaluate
the entire past 21 years and to let go of
what does not fully align with the new, emerging
vision for your life. The
next year offers the perfect opportunity
to begin this realignment. Don’t
be afraid to plan big changes; if you continue
to maintain faith, you will find your way.
