Stuck
in the Mud
From The
Mountain Astrologer, June-July
2006 (1)
Q. For
some time, there have been so many changes
in my life that I've been on edge — taking
care of my mother and losing a brother while
moving. Then, at the beginning of last summer,
my dreams revealed a move to another state
and meeting my potential life partner. But
our house never sold, and now I feel stuck,
not knowing what to do or where to go. Is it
karma, or is there something in the placement
of a planet that is causing this experience?
I am interested in my soul's growth, for people
had told me that I have a negative force around
me. Please help me to see and understand what
is going on and how much longer this is going
to last. Or is there still more for me to learn?
— Stuck in the
Mud
A. Do
not despair! You are in the midst of a promising
transition that bodes well for positive change.
With transiting Pluto conjoining your natal
Moon, the pain
of recent years around your mother’s
condition and the loss of your brother is
profound and understandable.1 Now is the
time to focus on completion.
View pain as a transformative agent and
release outmoded perspectives, such as the “negative
force” that
others have mentioned. Connection to spirit (natal
Neptune in the 6th house sextiling the Moon) can
help you to transcend hopelessness and move
toward a more open and optimistic perspective.
You can either bathe in despair or choose
to transmute through a Higher Power. With
your naturally optimistic Sagittarius Moon–North
Node conjunction trining Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and
Pluto in the 5th house of creativity, an expressive
outlet — writing, singing, dancing, painting,
making music — might enable you to make the
transition and transform your pain through creative
imagination.

Your prescient
dream last summer, occurring near your 50th
birthday and within months of your progressed
New Moon (within a few degrees of the fixed
star Spica, a benefic influence), is a hopeful
sign from your psyche.2 As
you move through and away from the pain of
loss, you prepare the ground for new possibilities.
Progressed Venus (love) exactly conjoins
your natal Descendant (marriage), entering
your 7th house next year, which indicates
our internal readiness to find your life
partner. This is supported by transiting
Jupiter trining your natal IC (good for real
estate) and Uranus also trining the IC (great
for relocation).3 Invoke the spirit of new
beginnings by creating an affirmation such
as “I embrace new
possibilities as I leave the pain of the
past behind,” and then live it!
Take positive action to reverse your drift
toward despondency, exacerbated by transiting
Neptune’s (dissolving
energy) ongoing square to natal Saturn (existing structures).
At the time of this writing (February 2006), prepare
the house to go on the market by spring, to take advantage
of the supportive Jupiter transit. Allow yourself to
trust in your dream for a new future, as you continue
to exorcise the pain of loss, literally leaving your
past behind.
